FAQ

  1. What kind of photography do you specialise in?

I specialise in luxury hospitality, food and drink photography: hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars and the people behind them. Clients include Oriental Express, Dorchester Collection, Four Seasons, Belmond, Rosewood, Auberge, Baglioni, The Hoxton. I also shoot editorial features and cookbooks for publishers and magazines in Italy and Germany, such as Callwey, Topic, Feinschmecker, Travel & Leisure Italia and Food & Wine Italia.

  2. What does a hotel photoshoot include?

Typically rooms and suites, public spaces, restaurants and bars, spa and pool, exteriors and details, plus lifestyle scenes with guests, models or staff. The exact list comes from a shot list we agree on together. A boutique hotel usually takes 1–2 days, a large resort 3–5. We can shoot while the hotel is open (or even when is under construction), scheduling each space around occupancy, service and the best light.

  3. Do you also photograph restaurants and bars outside hotels?

Yes. Independent restaurants, cocktail bars, wineries and cafés are a big part of my work, from Michelin-starred dining rooms to neighborhood spots. Typical projects are new menu launches, signature cocktail lists, chef and bartender portraits, and content for wine, spirits and beverage brands.

  4. Do you work alone or with a team?

It depends on the project. For larger shoots I work with assistants, food and prop stylists, and a trusted network of photographers and videomakers, so we can cover several spaces or days at once if needed. For complex properties a site visit beforehand helps plan light, timing and angles.

  5. Do you shoot food on location or in a studio?

Mostly on location, in the restaurant's own kitchen and dining room. The chef and staff know the dishes best, and the venue's light and materials become part of the story. In a full day we can usually photograph around 15–25 dishes. For campaigns and cookbooks I can bring in a food stylist.

  6. Do you also produce video?

Yes. Through SETE Studio, the studio I co-run, we produce video, reels and short films alongside the photography, with one crew and one visual direction. Photo and video can be shot on the same day from a single shot list, which saves time and budget. We also deliver vertical formats designed for Instagram and TikTok, not just crops of the main shoot.

  7. Who owns the copyright of the photos?

As the author, I keep the copyright. Clients receive a license to use the images for the purposes, territories and period agreed in the quote. Advertising and use by third parties, such as the hotel group or brands featured in the images, are agreed separately. Licences can be extended at any time. A credit with a link ("Photo: Andrea Di Lorenzo") is always appreciated.

  8. How much does a hotel or restaurant photoshoot cost?

Every project is quoted individually. The price depends on the number of shooting days, the team, post-production and the usage license. To prepare a quote I need the venue, the spaces or dishes to shoot, how the images will be used and the deadline. I also offer annual agreements for properties that need fresh content every season. Ideally, it would be nice to book 4–6 weeks ahead.

  9. Where are you based and where do you work?

I am based in Rome and work throughout Italy: Florence, Venice, Lake Como, Tuscany, Umbria, the Amalfi Coast, Sicily and beyond. I regularly travel abroad for international hotel groups and magazines, from Miami and London to Tokyo. Travel and accommodation are added to the quote.

  10. Why should a hotel invest in professional photography?

Images are the first thing guests see on your website, OTAs and social media, and they shape booking decisions before any review does. In luxury hospitality, photography must convey atmosphere, service and a sense of place, not just show the rooms. Professional images show the real quality of a property and help justify its rates. They should be refreshed at least every 2–3 years, and whenever rooms, menus or outlets change.
